Contributes to the World Bank Group’s B-READY 2026 Project in Egypt and Jordan

In recognition of its regional legal presence and extensive experience in commercial law, corporate law, and investment, TCMG Legal Group participated in the World Bank Group’s Business Ready (B-READY) 2026 project after being selected and invited to contribute to the project based on its legal expertise in Egypt and Jordan.

Lawyers from the Group’s Egypt and Jordan offices contributed to the third edition of the World Bank Group’s flagship report, the Business Ready (B-READY) 2026 Report, scheduled to be published later this year.

This participation highlights the importance of specialized legal expertise in analyzing legislative and regulatory frameworks and institutional procedures, and its role in supporting international efforts to assess business environments and understand the factors affecting commercial and investment activities.

Business Ready (B-READY) is one of the World Bank Group’s flagship projects. It aims to assess business environments across different economies by examining regulatory frameworks, public services, and the efficiency of procedures relevant to private-sector activities.

The project provides an integrated methodology for analyzing the environment in which businesses operate, from business formation and commercial operations to expansion, dispute resolution, and business exit, while taking into account the legal and institutional factors that affect the business life cycle.

The project covers ten key topics related to the business environment: business entry, business location, utility services, labor, financial services, international trade, taxation, dispute resolution, market competition, and business insolvency.

Its assessment methodology examines formal legislation and procedures, alongside the efficiency of public services and their effectiveness in practice. This provides a more comprehensive framework for understanding business environments across participating economies.

Specialized legal expertise plays an important role in assessing business environments. The evaluation process requires a thorough understanding of applicable laws, regulations, and procedures, as well as the ability to analyze how they affect business formation, corporate operations, and interactions with relevant authorities.

Through the participation of lawyers from TCMG Legal Group’s Egypt and Jordan offices, the Group contributed its expertise to legal and regulatory topics relevant to the project, drawing on the professional experience of its legal teams in both countries.

This contribution highlights the importance of understanding the specific characteristics of each legal system and analyzing business-related procedures within their local context. Such expertise supports broader efforts to develop an accurate understanding of regulatory and institutional frameworks across different markets.

B-READY reports provide a framework for analyzing several factors, including the clarity of regulatory requirements, the efficiency of public services, the effectiveness of administrative procedures, and the extent to which the institutional environment facilitates business activity.

These issues are particularly important for domestic and international companies seeking to establish operations or expand into new markets. Accurate knowledge of local laws and procedures is essential for assessing risks and making informed commercial and investment decisions.

The findings of such projects can also help relevant authorities, researchers, and investors better understand different aspects of business environments and use available data and analysis to explore opportunities for regulatory and institutional development.
